トヨタと軍艦島と栄枯盛衰
さっきのＮＨＫスペシャルのトヨタ特集を見ながらなんとなく感じたこと。
ＧＭを抜き世界一が目前。営業利益は日本企業初の２兆円を超える見通しというけれど・・・
軍艦島（長崎市）
人口が最盛期を迎えた1960年には5,267人の人口がおり、人口密度は東京特別区部の9倍以上に達した。炭鉱施設のほか、住宅・学校・店舗・病院・寺院・映画館・理髪店などもあり、島内において完結した都市機能を有していた。
主要エネルギーの石炭から石油への移行（エネルギー革命）により衰退。１970年代以降のエネルギー政策の影響を受けて1974年1月15日に閉山し・・・無人島となった。この時期は、日本の高度経済成長の終焉と重なる。
同じく炭坑の町としてかつて栄えた夕張市も今年、財政破たんした。
1990年に最後まで残っていた三菱石炭鉱業南大夕張炭鉱が閉山。元々炭鉱により開かれた町であり、大規模な農業にも向かない地域であった上、石炭産業以外の産業基盤が皆無同然だったため雇用の受け皿がなく人口が激減。現在では・・・全国で3番目に人口が少ない市である。（wikipedia）
夕張、嘆きの山…市で事実上の解雇通告も（１１／２０読売新聞）
図書館、プール、市営球場は廃止。共同浴場や公衆便所も閉鎖。なのに最高で年１６万円の負担増。３６０億円の借金を抱えて破たんし、財政再建団体 となる北海道夕張市の今後の市民生活が見えてきた。市民１万３０００人のうち６５歳以上が４０％に上る高齢化率全国一の旧炭鉱町。２０年後の返済完了を目 指し、全国最低のサービスでしのいで行くことになる。
対照的に、トヨタ城下町はすごいことになっている。

（１１／２５中日新聞）愛知県豊田市は２４日、本年度の法人市民税が当初見込みより１２４億円増えることを明らかにした。市内に本社や工場が集中するトヨタ自動車をはじめ、自動車関連企業の業績の好調さを反映した。この日の記者会見で鈴木公平市長は「増額がこれほどの規模になるとは…。予想外」と述べた。・・・過去最高だったバブル経済期の１９９０年度の３３４億円を上回ることになる。

期間工の血で購った３８７億円
そのトヨタのせいだろうか？かつて自動車産業のメッカだったデトロイトは衰退著しく、アメリカ最悪の犯罪都市となってしまっている。
同じような風景を私は以前アメリカのデトロイトで見たことがあります。ゴーストタウンと呼ばれるその街は、かつてのフォード城下町としての繁栄を凋落を体現しているのでした。そこでの、人工の巨大建築物の衰える様子の悲しさ・そこのすさんだ暮らしは、人間の営みのもろさと愚かさと愛おしさを感じさせるものでした。
デトロイトと軍艦島の共通点、それは、巨大建築物が滅びていくというところにあります。つまり、一つの産業のみに依拠していた町が、その産業の衰退とともにすさんでいく現実です。（写真家・雜賀雄二さんの軍艦島写真集への感想）
アメリカはかつて鉄鋼や家電を捨てたように、今や自動車を捨てようとしている。とはいえ、フラット化した世界で産業構造の転換を果たし、ITや金融なんかでは完全に世界を支配している。
期間工とか格差問題でなにかと話題のトヨタだけど、そもそも１人あたりGDPが世界トップクラスに成熟した日本社会で、これからも製造業が雇用や競争力を維持していけるのだろうか？世界的に見れば、日給９０００円の期間工だって「勝ち組」なわけで、ライバルはトヨタの正社員ではなく、背後にいる中国人やベトナム人なわけで・・・
